Green Card Medical Exam

Green Card Medical Exam

The purpose of the Green Card Medical Exam is to determine whether or not the intending immigrant is inadmissible into the United States for medical reasons, such as having a serious communicable disease, such as tuberculosis or leprosy, (meaning that the intending immigrant would have to pose threat to personal and public safety), mental disorder or illegal or illicit narcotic dependency.

The intending immigrant must select from a list of physicians who can perform the Green Card Medical Exam.  The physician will also make sure that the intending immigrant is up to date on vaccinations for diseases such as measles, mumps, rubella tetanus, polio and a laundry list of others.

After the Green Card Medical Exam is completed the physician will return the results of the Green Card Medical Exam to the intending immigrant in a sealed envelope.  It is VERY important that the envelope is not opened.  If the envelope is opened, it invalidates the results and a new Green Card Medical Exam will have to be scheduled, along with a whole new set of fees and expenses.
